STAR Transit (St. Tammany Area Transportation)

goSTAT is a demand response transit system that operates within the boundaries of St. Tammany Parish (service area map). This system is open to all residents within the Parish. The program operates two types of services: rural transportation and urban transportation. It is designed to transport passengers to and between essential services and destinations. This service is non-emergency and provides curb-to-curb service on a call-in, first come first served basis.

Hours Of Operation

Urban Transit Service: 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Saturday
 Rural Transit Service: 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday

Current Fare Structure

-- 0 to 10 miles one-way $1.50 ($3 round trip)
--11 to 25 miles one-way $2.50 ($5 round trip)
--26+ miles one-way $4.00 ($8 round trip)
--Elderly Passengers 60+  Ride FREE from 7:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The cost per trip is based on trip to one destination and return to same origin. All additional stops must be scheduled in advance. Drivers do not make unscheduled stops. Trips of 26 miles or greater are only reserved if the schedule permits.

Elderly passengers age sixty (60) and older, the disabled, Medicare cardholders and children between the ages of 6-11 will be eligible for half fare. Children under 6 years of age are allowed to ride free. Passengers under the age of (12) must be escorted by a person as least eighteen (18) or older.

St. Tammany Parish Park and Ride Lots

St. Tammany Parish currently has nine (9) operational park and rides located within the parish. These park and ride lots were developed to provide convenient locations for commuters/ vanpoolers to park and to provide transfer points for transportation providers.

Lots are located at the following locations:

  • Abita Springs Park and Ride: 22516 Highway 36, Abita Springs
  • Lacombe Park and Ride (John Davis Park): 61096 St. Mary Street, Lacombe
  • Centerpoint Park and Ride: Highway 434, Lacombe
  • Koop Drive Park and Ride: 21490 Koop Drive, Mandeville
  • Mandeville Park and Ride: 675 Lafitte Street, Mandeville
  • Carollo Trailhead Park and Ride: 2289 Gause Blvd. West, Slidell
  • North Boulevard Park and Ride: 393 North Blvd., Slidell
  • Oak Harbor Park and Ride: 100 Harbor Center Blvd., Slidell
  • Highway 41 Park and Ride: Poitevent Park, Pearl River

Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) 

St. Tammany Parish hereby announces its three year (FY2017-2019) Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Goal of 17.39% on Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funded projects.  The Parish estimates that, in meeting the overall goal, 10.39% will be obtained through Race-Conscious measures and 7.00% through Race Neutral participation.  The proposed goals and rationale are available for inspection between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday through Friday at the St. Tammany Parish Department of Grants located at 21410 Koop Drive (1st Floor, Building C), Mandeville, LA  70471 for 30 days from the date of this publication.
Comments on the DBE goal will be accepted for 45 days from the date of this publication and can be sent to the following:

All complaints regarding STAR Transit service or the Parish's Park and Ride lots, should be made by calling 985-809-2989 or in writing to the St. Tammany Parish Department of Grants-Transit, within 180 days of occurrence.
